A good read on exclusion and moral superiority

Jonathan Haidt’s book The Righteous Mind is in a way a study of the opposite of Moreno’s idea of inclusion. The book studies polarization in America.  It discusses how and why humans are so often making “in- groups” and excluding others. We so frequently like to think of ourselves as morally above others who think differently or behave differently– what is that all about? Haidt asks. Well worth reading about.  After all, it is hard to overcome what we fail to understand.  Haidt has developed some intriguing online research and can be found discussing his book and his experiments in moral choices on You tube.   He asserts that those who tend to the right in this country value loyalty, sanctity, and freedom most highly, while those on the left place caring and fairness highest in their priorities.  At the end, he suggests we would do well to listen well to one another’s concerns.
